I am here to talk about two of the more recent additions in Connected Business - the Gift Card and Gift Certificate.
As we all know, gift cards/certificates nowadays are commonly sold in almost every grocery or department store. This is something that customers would look for every now and then.
As business owners, meeting our customer’s needs and expectations are on top of our priority list, which is why, Connected Business now gives you the ability to create, sell, send, and redeem gift cards/certificates.
First things first, you need to create a gift card/certificate item. You can refer to Create Gift Card or Create Gift Certificate online documentation.
Upon creating the item, you can also set whether to manually or automatically generate the gift card/certificate serial numbers. The serial numbers are unique for each gift card/certificate and will only be generated upon creating the invoice for your customer.

Once the serial numbers are generated, your customers can opt to have the gift cards/certificates sent thru their email account or to another email account by entering the email address in the Recipient Email column in the invoice.

Post the invoice and the gift card/certificates will be sent in the email as an attachment.
As far as activating the gift card/certificate is concern, this is done upon initial redemption. Gift card/certificate redemption includes using it as payments

or applying it as credits to existing invoices.

Apart from the spelling, you may wonder what sets a gift card apart from a gift certificate - the answer is you can recharge a gift card. Yes, gift cards can be recharged directly within the Connected Business application. All you have to do is access the Recharge Gift Card dialog box from the Customer module > Invoice > Recharge Gift Card. After you’ve entered the gift card serial number and the amount to be reloaded, it is a simple matter of clicking OK, applying payment, and then posting the subsequent sales invoice. Do that and, voila, the gift card has been reloaded.
