Set up String Resources for Other Languages in your Webstore

In Connected Business eCommerce module, string resources are defined only for the default selling language. If in case, you want to show your site in multiple languages, you need to configure the string resources for all other supported languages. This blog post will show you how to set up string resource in order for it to display for other preferred languages.

On the snapshot below, you may encounter this error when string resources are not properly setup or have never been configured for a specific language. Follow the instructions below to know how to setup string resources for other languages in your website.

Step 1 – Export String Resource

From the eCommerce module, click Setup ► String Resource. The String Resource window will display. When exporting string resource, you will have to manually select string resources per selling language per website. If the default selling language is set to English – United States, we will use the exported data to be able to use it to other selling languages.

To export string resources, click on the Export button from the menu options. On the Option Setting pop up window, select the Language Code from the Locale Setting field and the Website Code. Click OK to begin exporting the file. You will be asked to save the excel format file on your computer, and then provide the name of the file.

Step 2 – Modify String Resource Values on the Excel File

You may use the exported file as template to other supported languages in Connected Business as needed. However, when you want to modify the file you only need to modify the String Value column for existing String Names to be able to reflect the changes on the website. If you want to create a new string name, you may add it on the list as well as the string value.

To enable other selling languages, click Setup ► SellingLanguage. Select the language you want to include by ticking the Include column.

To apply the changes made on the file, click on the View Missing Strings button from the menu until strings are searching for missing strings are completed.

Step 3 – Import Modified String Resource

The modified file which will serve as your template can now be imported to the Connected Business system. From the eCommercemodule, click Setup ► String Resource. On the String Resource window, click Importbutton from the options, then selected the modified excel file.

After selecting the file, select the Locale which you would like the string resources to be uploaded to. Click OK on the Locale Setting pop up window.

After the string resource was successfully imported, you may now close the String Resource Form.

After a successful import, you need to reset the web cache to be able to see the changes made on the selected language.From the eCommerce module, select Tools > Webstore. Click Reset Web Cache from the menu options.

You may now view the modified strings on your website.

If you have multiple websites, the imported data will also apply on all other websites.
